He was sipping his drink while watching blankly into space. He was not alone; his friends around him were laughing and cracking jokes. Recent turn of events had left him cold and emotionless. The girl he loved ditched him for some inexplicable reason. He didn’t know that reason, he never cared to ask. Asking for a reason was never his thing, he accepted it but that thought never left his system. His friends tried to cheer him up bringing him to a fun place where he would forget the pain, after all that is what friends do.
Sitting at the edge of the cushioned sofa he was feeling uneasy. He excused himself to have a smoke. He never smoked but neither did he dwell upon such incidents. Walking past the door he bumped into a girl. Her purse fell; he bent down to pick it up. He rose up to find himself fixated onto her eyes.
Those eyes are like Simone, large and expressive those eyes.
He forgot where he was going, his footsteps turned back into the lounge following her. Just a glance of her mesmerized him, walking through the crowd he followed her only to be stopped by his friends. They took him back where the group was, just opposite the bar. He looked out for those eyes, found them at the bar sipping juice. She threw a glance at him as if inviting him.

He rose up and went towards her to sit by her side. The bartender asked, “Sir, would you prefer a drink?” to which he denied. The bartender had a sly smile on his face, he felt a bit irritated and shot him a stare. Then he reminded himself about why he was here.
"Hi, I’m Kabir.” he introduced himself to the lady.
She did not reply back. He was quite angry that he made a fool of himself, maybe she's not interested...Man I've become a little rusty.
"I'm better off with my friends”, he muttered.
He turned his back to leave the bar when he heard her say," You look quite a mess my dear; there's so much angst in your eyes. May I know why?”
He turned his head--in a mild shock though, that same voice, those pauses exactly like Simone. Though he was drinking heavily for a month and was under depression, there was refreshing feeling for the first time since he bumped into this mysterious girl. Brushing aside those thoughts he sat beside her. Only thing which made him pursue were her Simone-esque features.
"Yes, I’m in a bad shape. I had an ugly breakup", he replied.
"Poor thing, I do not understand why men are such pussies in matters of heart", she said with a sarcastic tone. “Excuse me?” he questioned astonished with the choice of words.
"Yes, exactly.Aah never mind…Let it be—Can we dance?” she proposed.

Kabir never imagined that he would be sharing dance floor with a girl when he woke up this morning. He started to like what he was experiencing but there was a strange feeling about which he could not understand. She had some pretty good moves and he was enjoying her company. They danced for few minutes, and then she suddenly asked,” Shall we go to the park? I feel suffocated here, please?”.
“There’s a park here?” he asked with a confused look on his face. He had been to this place once before but could not recollect seeing a park on the way. His rational mind was telling him not to pay heed to it but the heavy dose of alcohol was kicking in. "Okay", he said nodding in affirmation.
They squeezed their way out of the lounge and Kabir particularly sneaking swiftly before his friends could notice. The park was few blocks away from the lounge; it was strange though with a small pond surrounded by huge pine trees that too in the middle of the city. He was racking his brains about the landscape of that place but thought he was pretty drunk now. The sudden change in landscape was noticeable but he was too engrossed watching her silken hair dance with the wind.
Now that's exactly like Simone. That's so strange, you are drunk. Maybe that's why you are having such thoughts.
He was confused regarding the whole situation, but somehow his heart was at peace.

They did not speak a word since they left the lounge.
They reached to the edge of the pond and she said looking at him,“You are a sweet guy—I fell for you long back and I still love you”. Hearing this he was bit troubled by the tone of her voice and he paced further few steps. But again reassuring him that he might be under alcohol’s influence he thought he heard something else, he tried to play along.
“I think even I am starting to like you but...” before he could complete a strong chill went down his spine through the leather jacket he wore. He turned back only to find himself alone in a cloud of mist. He fumbled though the woods which grew denser as he moved. He heard wolves crying out loud in a distance. He thought of calling out her name but he never really got to know her name. “Stupid, stupid!” he cursed himself. While all the probabilities were being calculated in his doped brain he heard a loud scream from a distance. Wheezing past the woods he reached there to find wolves eating the flesh off bones. Gathering courage he shooed away the wolves and reached the bones.
“NO!” he wailed like a baby clutching those bones for certain those were hers, the mystery girl who was the new Simone for him.
He wept and wept until he cried himself to sleep. He woke up in his bed at midnight calling out Simone’s name. He was shocked and surprised to be in his room and more so his mother calming him down.
He woke up next day and asked his mother to explain what happened. He told his side of the story too; everything from his breakup, depression, last night. His mother was shocked to hear that he was in a park that night. She told him he was totally drunk and blacked out in the lounge itself; that his friends got him here. He then called up his friends to make sure what exactly happened. No one saw him going out of the club, talking to a girl or even dancing as he blacked out soon after Tequila shots. To make sure he even went to the lounge and asked the bartender, the same guy who asked him for a drink. He plainly denied offering him drink or even seeing him that night.
He then tried to call Simone. After the breakup he never tried to call her, this was the first time in months he was calling her. The bell rang as he waited patiently for her to pick up the phone. After few beeps it connected but the voice wasn’t that of her.
“This is Alisha speaking, may I know who is this”, spoke gravely the girl on the other side. Kabir sensed something strange so he enquired about Simone.
He let out a cry and fumbled for words as he could not believe what he heard. Simone and her friends were burned alive by a bunch of psychopaths while coming home from a trip down the woods. He remained down with high fever for a week. When he recovered then he could link the pattern in what he thought was a night he spent with the mysterious girl.
He never uttered this to anybody from that day but the loss of Simone and those words unsaid made him feel depressed.
This must be the last time he would meet Simone he thought. “Till death do us part” he said placing the bunch of roses on her grave.
